Giant-Eagle-Advantage-CardTo maximize your savings at Giant Eagle, you will want to sign up for a Giant Eagle Advantage Card (GEAC). This card will give you access and keep track of all your savings (fuelperks, coupons, eOffers, and more). If you don’t already have an Advantage Card, you can simply go to the customer service desk and sign up.

Earning fuelperks is a great way to save at Giant Eagle. Fuelperks are a specified amount off per gallon of fuel at GetGo locations. For every $50 you spend in store (including gift cards, floral, pharmacy, & more) with your GEAC, you will automatically earn 10¢ off per gallon of fuel. In some states, you can also earn fuelperks on beer, wine and tobacco purchases (check with your local store for details).

Giant-Eagle-FuelperksFuelperks discounts roll over each month and expire two months after the last day of the month in which they are earned. For example, fuelperks earned on any day in the month of July, will expire on September 30th. The bottom of your receipt will notify you if you have any fuelperks expiring that month. You can also monitor your fuelperks online or sign-up to receive a mid-month text message of your fuelperks status.

Another way to save at Giant Eagle is to take advantage of their bonus fuelperks (BFP) offers where you receive a set amount of fuelperks in return for buying a specified group of product(s). These are usually featured in the weekly sales ad and are earned on top of the regular fuelperks. You can also use coupons and still earn your bonus fuelperks, so be sure to check out the Weekly Ad page for complete coupon matchups.

To redeem your earned fuelperks, just scan your GEAC at the GetGo pump. To get the most value, you will want to fill up to the maximum of 30 gallons. You cannot fill up multiple vehicles, but you can use fuel containers. All accumulated fuelperks, up to the price of fuel, are used at the the time of redemption. If you have any fuelperks left over, they will remain in your account.

Giant Eagle also offers checkout rewards (aka Catalinas) where you will receive a coupon for a specified amount off your next order (OYNO) when you met the special purchase requirements. These usually require a purchase threshold be met on select items or quantity of products to be purchased. Some of these are advertised each week, but some are not and can last up to a month.

Most customer service desks do not have a catalina machine, so if you are expecting to receive a checkout reward, you will need to go through a regular checkout lane or self-checkout.I do my best to keep track of as many checkout rewards as possible on the Bonus Deals page where you will find all the details, coupon matchups and some deal ideas so be sure to check it out.

You can redeem coupons at all Giant Eagle®, Market District®, Giant Eagle Express® and GetGo® locations. One coupon per item(s) purchased with a maximum of 5 “like coupons” per same 5 items purchased in a 24 hour period per Giant Eagle Advantage Card customer. Coupon value cannot exceed the price of the item(s) purchased and that coupon will not be accepted. Also, if a manufacturer coupon has a more restrictive limit than the Giant Eagle policy, the more restrictive limit will apply. You cannot stack (combining electronic and paper coupons) manufacturers or store coupons. If you forget your coupons, GE will accept them with your receipt and Advantage Card up to 10 days after the purchase date on the receipt as long as the coupons are not expired. Transactions with 20 or more coupons will not accepted through self-checkout, so you will need to go through a cashier. The official Giant Eagle Coupon Policy can be found HERE (effective September 28, 2015).

Doubling Coupons

Giant-Eagle-Double-CouponsOne of the biggest perks of couponing at Giant Eagle is the doubling of manufacturer coupons with your Advantage Card up to a face value of .99 cents, however the doubled amount cannot exceed the value of the item purchased. For example, if you purchased an item for $1 and used a $.75/1 manufacturer coupon, it would double to .25 cents, but you would still get the item for FREE. There are some coupons that will not double including FREE or B1G1, eOffers, Checkout coupons, or Giant Eagle store coupons.Giant Eagle will not double any coupon that states DO NOT DOUBLE (DND).

Insert Coupons

One of the most popular resources are the coupon inserts in the Sunday Newspaper. Each week there will be a different number of inserts from either SmartSource (SS), Redplum (RP), Proctor and Gamble (PG), and/or special inserts. Every week I try & post a Sunday Newspaper Insert Preview with highlights of what will be coming in the Sunday paper and I also list resources for obtaining inserts and coupons that come from them.

Printable Coupons

Another popular way to get coupons is to print them. You can find printable coupons on,, SmartSource, & Hopster as well as manufacturer sites, Facebook pages, and more. Giant Eagle will accept 2 “like” printed coupons per transaction up to a maximum value of $3. A “like coupon” is defined as They do not accept FREE or B1G1 printed coupons. I will try to provide a direct link for each coupon in the matchups, where applicable.

Digital Coupons

Giant Eagle also accepts electronic coupons through Giant Eagle’s website (eOffers) or approved third-party vendors, such as Cellfire. You load the digital coupons on to your GEAC prior to your shopping trip and they will automatically be deducted at the register. Each ecoupon can only be used once and they do not double. You can load up to 90 digital coupons and they cannot be stacked with paper coupons.

SavingStarSavingstar is another type of digital coupon that can be used with your GEAC. Just load the Savingstar offers onto your GEAC and usually within a couple days, the digital coupon amount will appear in your Savingstar account. When you have reached a minimum threshold of $5, you can cash out. You cannot combine SavingstarCellfire and/or Giant Eagle eOffers. However, you can combine the one-to-many Savingstar offers with manufacturer coupons (printable or insert coupons).

Ibotta Offers

ibotta-logo-croppedIbotta is a fun and exciting way to earn cash every time you shop. You will need to download the free app onto your smartphone and check the Ibotta app for Product Offers, Bonuses, and more. You simply complete the offers, scan the product(s) and upload your receipt and within 24 hours, the amount will be credited in your Ibotta account. Ibotta offers can be used with any other offer including eoffers, paper coupons, rebates, and more.

Catalina Coupons

Sometimes catalina coupons will print at the register based off your purchase. These are random and not everyone will receive the same coupons. The catalina coupons will not double and cannot be combined with any other coupon.

Giant Eagle Store Coupons

You can get Giant Eagle Store Coupons from a personalized mailer, on display stands in your store, via email or from the catalina machine. These store coupon are always taken at face value and will not double. Giant Eagle store coupons CANNOT be combined with any other coupon.

If an advertised item is out of stock, get a raincheck voucher at customer service. Starting October 19th, rainchecks will have have a 30-day expiration date at Giant Eagle. To redeem a raincheck, at the beginning of the checkout process, give the cashier your raincheck and they will enter the raincheck price for the qualified items(s). You will now need to redeem your entire raincheck in one visit and are limited to five items. If your raincheck includes a special offer, such as bonus fuelperks or a checkout reward (catalina offer), you will need to go to the customer service desk to have the special offer portion redeemed.

Giant Eagle also has an AccuScan policy which states if the charge price of a product appears on your register tape at an amount higher than the displayed, posted or advertised price, you will receive the first improperly scanned item free. You will then be charged the lower price for any additional items of the same product in the order. This does not include items prohibited by law (currently alcohol, tobacco and milk). Although this rarely happens, just bring your receipt to customer service and they will refund you according to the policy.

Couponers use lots of abbreviations and terms, so if you are just getting started, here are some terms to familiarize yourself with…

$1/2: One dollar off two items
x: Expiration
B1G1: Buy 1 Get 1 FREE; B2G1: Buy 2 Get 1 FREE and so on…
ETS: Excludes Trial Size or Excludes Travel Size
ESS: Excludes Single Serving
OYNO: Off Your Next Order (Giant Eagle offers catalinas as a reward for buying specific items, see the Bonus Deals page for current deals)
OOP: Out of Pocket (The amount you actually spend)
Q: Coupon; MQ: manufacturer coupon
WYB: when you buy
YMMV: Your Mileage May Vary (this means that it may or may not be the case in all instances)

What is giant eagle? A grocery store??

    1. Emily

Hi Audrey! Yes, Giant Eagle is a grocery store, which is the main focus of my blog. But the coupons are manufacturer coupons that can be used anywhere like Target, Walmart, Kroger, etc. HTH! ~Emily

  2. Heather

Will Giant Eagle double coupons that state DND? My friend used one and it did but I dont want to get my hopes up if it wont!

    1. Emily

Hi Heather! In general, if a coupon automatically doubles at the register (whether or not it states DND), then it will just go thru. If a coupon does not double AND it states DND anywhere on the coupon, then they will NOT manually double it. Most coupons will automatically double and I try to post any info. about the coupon doubling in the post or underneath the item.

As a side note, you can sometimes tell if a coupon will double automatically 🙂 If the coupon has the old UPC barcode (short bar code) and starts with a 5, it will automatically double; if it starts with a 9, it will most likely NOT double (very rarely it will). If it just has the new GS1 barcode (long or stacked bar codes), then you cannot tell whether or not it will automatically double. Also, always be sure to scan your GE Advantage card first, otherwise NONE of your coupons will double.

If you have any more questions, just let me know. HTH! ~Emily

Is there a place to sign up to get your deal in my email?

    1. Emily

Hi Debbie and thanks for visiting my blog! Yes, you can receive email by signing up on my RSS feed (the orange button in the header) or go here ->
If you have any more questions, just let me know 🙂 Thanks! ~Emily

how do you get giant Eagle coupons in the mail from Giant Eagle ?my friend received in the mail coupons for $1 off certain items that are from Giant Eagle

    1. Emily

Hi Paula! Giant Eagle will target certain customers in select areas at various times, so not everyone will get them 🙁 I would make sure the mailing address on your GE Advantage card is up-to-date with customer service. Also, make sure your email address is current too as they will send personalized eOffers every month and they are normally really good ecoupons too! I post about the personalized on the Just Giant Eagle Facebook page every month to let everyone know when I receive them so they can check for them too. HTH! ~Emily

Love giant eagle… shop ther all the time. But not sure how to get cou9ons mailed to me.. I see people with them all time, help!,

    1. Emily

Hi Celia! First, make sure your postal address and email addresses are current (and correct) on your Giant Eagle Advantage card – you call their customer service, log into your account online and/or stop at your local customer service desk and they help you out. With regards to the mailers, the Giant Eagle Marketing Team will target certain people in specific areas at various times so there is no way to predict what or when coupons will come 🙁 I sometimes receive them but not all the time, however my sister receives them more often than I do, so she gives them to me since she knows I shop there every week. Maybe you could ask your neighbors and/or friends if they are not going to use them to give them to you. Another way to get the Giant Eagle store coupons is to sign up for the eAdvantage program. Do you receive the personalized email eOffers every month – around $10 worth of eOffers for items such as $1 off beef, chicken, etc.? If not, make sure your email address is current and check your spam or trash folder. The email arrives at the beginning of the month (usually around the 3rd or 4th of each month). I post a snap shot of what I receive every month on the Just Giant Eagle Facebook page – you can see the ones I received in February. I will post a new picture once I receive my March offers. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me. HTH!

Thanks for visiting my blog! ~Emily

We used to get coupons in the mail for years. 6 months ago they stopped but my friends and sister still gets them in the mail. Been going to walmart last 4 months and will keep going.

    1. Emily

I sometimes get Giant Eagle mailers, but it is not happen often or at least not of late. I do regularly receive the personalized eoffers via email though which are nice as well since they are also based off my regular shopping and sometimes includes a freebie 🙂

  7. Dominique

If I get a raincheck can I redeem it at any location, or do I have to go to the store I got it from?

    1. Emily

As far as I know, rainchecks are not store specific, so you should be able to use them at any store. HTH! ~Emily

  8. Mary

Are eOffers store coupons or manufacturer coupons? I am trying to find out if I put an eOffer on my card and use a manufacturer coupon to stack the savings. Thank you for your help.

    1. Emily

Hi Mary! Giant Eagle eOffers are electronic manufacturer coupons and you cannot stack it with another manufacturer (insert or printable) coupon. The new Giant Eagle policy also states you cannot stack manufacturer coupons with a Giant eagle store coupon either 🙁 However you can stack the one-to-many SavingStar offers with a insert or printable coupon 🙂 Hope this helps! If you have any other questions, just leave or comment or feel free to email me at emily @
      Thanks! ~Emily

  9. Farah Cottrell

How do sign up to get coupons sent to my email ?

  10. Margaret Brown

Hope you can answer, is there a way to add my daughter to my advantage card. Thank you

    1. Emily

Hi Margaret! You should be able to get two cards and have them linked together – which means any fuelperks earned are in one account and you will only have one set of eOffers. Note that if you have two cards with two different numbers that are linked and you use a smartphone app like ibotta, put in your main GE Advantage Card – otherwise the rebate credit will not come through. HTH! ~Emily
